Who runs Storyteller Games?

Storyteller Games is founded and run by Sean Fugate, a lifelong gamer, experienced Game Master (GM), User Researcher, and parent with over 40 years of experience in tabletop roleplaying games. As a father, he understands the importance of providing kids with a safe, structured, and engaging space to explore creativity and problem-solving through play. With a background in UX research, child advocacy, and military service, Sean brings a thoughtful, inclusive approach to gaming—helping kids develop teamwork, confidence, and storytelling skills in every session.

Sunstone Afterschool Program

What is the Sunstone Afterschool Program?

This is an afterschool enrichment program exclusively for students at Sunstone Montessori School in Portland, OR. It provides structured tabletop gaming sessions where kids engage in roleplaying games, board games, and hobby-based activities like painting miniatures.

Who can sign up for the Sunstone program?

Sunstone Montessori students within the appropriate age group (typically ages 8-11) can participate.

How do I register my child for the Sunstone program?

Parents can register through our Afterschool Program page on the Storyteller Games website. Enrollment is first-come, first-served, and spaces are limited.

What if my child has never played RPGs or board games before?

No problem! The program is designed for all experience levels. We provide easy-to-follow guidance and ensure new players feel comfortable and included.

Do you offer private or small-group sessions?

Yes! We provide private and small-group sessions for families, homeschool groups, and gaming clubs. Whether you’re looking for one-on-one coaching, a custom adventure, or a roleplaying workshop, we can tailor a session to your needs.

Do you offer workshops for adults or aspiring GMs?

Absolutely! We offer specialized workshops on:

  • Game Mastering 101 (How to run engaging RPG sessions)

  • Fixing Story Problems (Helping GMs improve their campaigns)

  • Character-Building & Roleplaying Mastery

Logistics & Policies

Where are sessions held?

The Sunstone Afterschool Program is hosted at Sunstone Montessori School.

Other workshops, campaigns, and private sessions are either held online, in partnered community spaces, or arranged at a location depending on the group.

What is the cost of your programs?

What materials do participants need?

Most materials are provided, but it depends on the activity:

  • For RPGs: Dice, character sheets, and books are available for use.

Getting Involved

Can parents stay and watch sessions?

For the Sunstone Afterschool Program, parents typically do not stay for sessions, as the program is designed to encourage kids' independence in a structured social environment. However, for private workshops or family game nights, parents are welcome to join!
